Pew Scholars Program in the Biomedical Sciences
The Pew Scholars Program in the Biomedical Sciences identifies and invests in young investigators of outstanding promise in science relevant to the advancement of human health. The program provides crucial support that enables scientists to take calculated risks and follow unanticipated leads to maximize the benefits of their research for society. Scholars also gain inclusion into a select community of scientists that includes three Nobel Prize winners, MacArthur Fellows and recipients of the Albert Lasker Medical Research Award.
2011 Pew Scholars in the Biomedical Sciences Announced.
To date, the program has invested more than $130 million to fund over 500 Pew Scholars. The award provides funding of $240,000 total - $60,000 per year over four years. In 2012, Pew will name 22 Pew Scholars. One nomination is invited from the 176 participating institutions that have been selected on the basis of the scope of their biomedical research and recommended to The Pew Charitable Trusts by the program’s National Advisory Committee. The deadline for applications for the 2012 awards is November 1, 2011.
